We've heard your feedback that it can feel like you will never be selected for our Chance to Buy (CtB) system. Your chances will always vary with the number of people that enter but we're trying to improve the experience by adding some Bad Luck Protection to all future puff and sculpture CtBs.

How Bad Luck Protection Works

Whenever you enter a CtB, that counts for one entry. With bad luck protection, if you enter and are not chosen, you will get a bonus entry on the next one you enter. Bonus entries will also stack on subsequent losses so if you miss out on two in a row, you'll have two bonus entries on the next one.

Here is a simplified example showing a series of four chance to buys with four people entering each time.

While this system still doesn't guarantee you'll be chosen for a CtB, it does continually improve your chances for the upcoming CtB with each loss. We will be tracking this internally, but in the future we do hope to find a way to add this to your account so you can see your bonus chances as well.

Puffs, Sculptures, and Rare Items

Pollen Puffs have become their own thing and will be treated as a unique item type for the purposes of bad luck protection. Bonus chances gained from puff CtBs will only apply to future puff CtBs. Bonus chances gained from sculpture CtBs will only apply to future sculpture CtBs.

At this time, only puffs and sculptures will have their own bonus chances. One-off Rare Item CtBs will not feature any bad luck protection. An example of this would be our Gingerbread Ornaments or Candy Corn Rats.
